I recently used Mia Proerty Boutique for a 3 night stay in Alicante. The booking was made through AirBnb. All was fine until we left the property, which seems a very common theme reading the reviews here. Upon leaving the property, Mia/Mary is trying to charge me £50 to replace 3 towels, when there is little or no evidence of any damage. As other people in the reviews here have said, Mia/Mary accuses you of Blackmail to AirBnb and has any of your reviews removed. This person and business can not be trusted. They often try and get additional money from you upon checkout and hide behind AirBnb who appear to have certain rules that protect the host, over the guest.

My update: As you see from the response, they will try to come at you for anything at all possibly negative. «I do not recommend» is my both my opinion and truthful. It’s also not bullying, I simply don’t recommend you do business with this group. As for trying to blackmail them, I did not. Saying that I attempted to is defamation. I never received my deposit. I was never given an invoice. I moved on and left a 1 star review.

We found MIA Property boutique by chance and very happy that we did. Mary and Roberta were wonderful to work with. They both speak English, so that was a huge bonus as neither my husband nor I speak Spanish. They were very thorough with explaining the different areas of Alicante and drove us to many of them (if not all!). We gave them a budget and what we wanted for that budget. They showed us what our budget allowed and what we needed to pay to get all of our list of expectations checked off. They did not rush us into any purchases (we wanted to purchase a house, not an apartment) and that made the entire process so much more ‘enjoyable’. No pressure! They also found us some rental properties while we were in Alicante looking for a home (we were here for 4 months). I have recommended MIA Property Boutique to others and would not hesitate to recommend them again. Through Mary and Roberta’s professionalism, patience and guidance, we found the perfect home for us!

NO RECOMIENDO. Fue una experiencia desagradable. Explico por que fue desagradable: – Me entregaron el departamento con un alcochado sucio que no pude corroborar porque estaba tapado con un edredon. Luego me lo cobraron como nuevo, como si lo hubiese manchado yo. – Al inicio del alquiler no tenian ni idea cual era la clave ni la red del WiFi. Casi tuve que contratar un servicio adicional. – Al final, cuando me enviaron el balance con las cosas que «supuestamente habiamos roto» no me entregaron los comprobantes correspondientes. Tengo mails comprobando esto para que sepan que es real lo que digo. No lo hicieron. Mandaron lo que quisieron cuando quisieron. – Les tuve que solicitar en reiteradas ocasiones que rindieran las cuentas del dinero ajeno. No lo hicieron. – Me enviaron 3 balances distintos. Eso demuestra la arbitrariedad y la poca credibilidad que tienen. – Me trataron muy mal al final del proceso. Una falta de respeto y descencia. Como no eres propietario estas en la ultima de las prioridades. – Falta de profesionalismo y gestion. – Excedieron los plazos legales por contrato. En resumen: Si! no solo «no me gusto» el balance, sino que fue una estafa. Saludos!

If renting, make sure you document every single item that is defective and broken. Take photos of everything, including dirty ovens and any little stains on furniture, etc. and report immediately. Otherwise, you will NOT get your security deposit back!! Mary charged us for cleaning even though I did a walk through with the agent, Nahir, on the date of departure and she said the apartment was clean. Mary overcharged us to replace an old vacuum that was already defective and some silly decorative items that can be found at the chino shops. I found the items myself at much lower prices and offered to replace but no can do. Mary prefers to create a number from the sky and then take it from your security deposit. I asked for receipts for the items they «supposedly» replaced and after 3 months, I still have not received anything. I would never recommend for rentals.

MIA Property Boutique is a fantastic real estate firm. We live in the US and were struggling with locating a rental property in Alicante to rent for a year. It is much more difficult to navigate the rental market in Spain than it is in the US. For example, in Alicante you cannot log onto a central website and pull down all rentals. Instead, people that rent properties usually have exclusive arrangements with brokers, and so you have to go to each broker’s website separately to see what they have (or claim to have) in their inventory. We contacted several real estate firms and were extremely fortunate to have reached out to to MIA. Mary Arro and her team helped us locate a great rental property. She contacted other firms and third-parties and was able to find several listings that were not even on their websites. In contrast, other firms we encountered did not follow through to the same extent with our inquiries and were not nearly as helpful. Also, MIA was extremely responsive, thorough, and very focused on helping us find what made sense to us–as opposed to finding what might generate the biggest commission to MIA. We could not recommend MIA more highly.
