Varkk Bar & Kitchen

Just had one of the best meals we’ve ever had in our 4 years of visiting the Villamartin area. The staff were friendly and courteous and, as we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, pulled out all the stops to make this night quite special. I started with the croquettes which were nice and crispy on the outside, light and fluffy on the inside. This was followed by cod gratin which was nice and flaky accompanied by fantastic medley of vegetables. My wife had the fillet steak which she says was cooked to perfection and the asparagus was delicious. We shared the tiramisu for dessert which was fantastic. Wines were gorgeous, my wife had the house rioja and I had the house white. Both were organic wines and quite delicious with none of the bite you would associate with some wines. All in all, a fantastic dining experience. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend and encourage people to dine here. Thanks again to the staff for making it a memorable evening.

Ate here a couple of weeks ago. The food is fine but nothing more; we had the tasting menu and it was a little bland but we did eat everything. My salmon was overcooked and there was a mustard reduction served with 3 of the dishes (it tasted good but a bit samey). I would have given 4* but we had to wait about an hour between course 3 and 4.

First time here and a cracking experience Food and service spot on. Definitely a place to go as a little treat.

Ive thought long and hard about leaving this review but after contacting the company privately through Facebook messenger with my complaints and receiving no reply I decided to leave this review and then people can decide for themselves whether to try Varrk or not , we where in last year for breakfast and we got an under cooked sour tasting sausage which ruined both our breakfasts , we contacted them and they mentioned that the next time we where in to let them know and they would give us drinks for the table and a breakfast , we weren’t looking for anything free but wanted to let them know privately about the problem so we didn’t mention it on this visit . We haven’t been in since until last week as we have seen their Facebook posts and said we’d give it another try , we called in and while there was only 2 other tables dining which seemed strange as everywhere else was busy but we decided go ahead and eat there anyway , we just want to make it clear that the gentleman serving us was absolutely lovely and we felt sorry for him when we brought the problems with the food to his attention as you could see his hands where tied and was afraid to mention it to the cooks . We ordered 3 different starters tacos and bang bang prawns, the tacos where dry and hard with what looked like shop bought sauces squeezed over them , the prawns which I thought would be freshly prepared as the server recommended them , they looked liked frozen breaded prawns and again with just shop bought sweet chili sauce over them and it was €10.95 , our mains where the lamb chops and a ribeye steak with asparagus , the lamb chops where burnt and waifer thin, the steak which would normally have a small medallion of fat in the middle for ribeye was complete grizzle and fat and the asparagus with over cooked and dried out , I took photos of our food and sent it privately to the owners before leaving this review but after a week with no reply I’m now posting this so other diners don’t have the same experience as us as there are too many nice restaurants around the area to spend nearly €100 between 2 people on bad food , I’m sorry that I’ve had to do this review but at least I’ve given my honest opinion and others can then decide what they want to do , if this review helps the owners to improve their food for other diners that’s fantastic but unfortunately we will not return. Response to owners comment below !!! I have now sent a private message to them suggesting they review the CCTV and see the returned food and how our meals where prepared and to check my previous 200 Google reviews which are 99% positive, I’m not looking for anything free but I will no longer accept mediocre service or quality of food from anywhere, this was not a special menu but full priced items , I have wished them good health and the best of luck with there business but as ive explained if you go there and enjoy your food then great but if it’s not good then you have been warned , maybe with this review things that happened us will not happen to others , if so the review was worthwhile for everyone except us .

Service very slow,no one in only us and quite

Outstanding 5 courses Chefs menu. We were 6 persons and a dog and are all absolutly happy. Maybe especially our dog as the chef himself treated her with roast beef . Thank you for a lovely evening, we’ll be back soon.

Good selection of food, friendly staff and probably good atmosphere but not many customers on our visit

We have been fans of Varkk since it opened. It is different and makes a refreshing change from the sameyness of other restaurants. We are looking forward to trying all the new dishes.

No food served before 14h Do not bother to open from 12h if you cannot eat. Ridiculous

WOW! Wat een heerlijk eten en wat een heerlijke sfeer. Restaurant ziet er heel verzorgt. Je merkt aan de gastheer en gastdame dat ze je echt de beste ervaring willen geven. Door de open keuken kon je koks ook aan bet werk zien. Lange tijd geleden dat ik zo goed gegegeten heb. Wij komen zeker weer terug!

What a nice evening we had at Varkk. The staff was very welcoming, we chose the menu, 5 courses for +|- €25 and they even adapted the main course for our friend who has food allergies. The portions were big and very tasty. The plates were nicely dressed and everything tasted very well. We will certainly come back!

Lovely meal, something a bit different from the usual. Excellent attentive staff. Well worth a visit.

I’ve finally tried Varkk! Amazing food! We had the trio of croquettes as a starter, tacos and Lamb Chops as mains and it was really good! Best lamb I’ve had. Nice relaxing chilled atmosphere and nice friendly staff, the service was excellent. We will definitely be back.

So full up I’m struggling to move The service an food are amazing Chef special menu is sooo good It very well priced and you get so much I struggled to eat desert so changed mine to a coffee with no drama or extra charge Would recommend to all

Starter of tacos was amazing especially the duck, burgers were fabulous and I had the fillet steak which was delicious. Food, Service and friendless was the best we have experienced all week. They are also serving a new organic wine which was very nice.

Wonderful evening , host very helpful, accommodating and engaging , chef excellent with the food , both the presentation and mix of ingredients , rounded of with a beautiful cocktail made by the mixologist , bravo

This evening we visited Varkk for the 3rd and last time. The first time was for brunch a couple of years ago. Despite there only being 3 or 4 tables occupied, it took 50 minutes to serve us two plates of food and my poached eggs were overcooked. Gave them a 2nd chance a few months ago for Sunday lunch which was good but rather slow service. I really like the look of their menu, so this evening my wife and I gave them another go. The experience was so frustrating with agonisingly slow service. We ordered the chef’s menu at around 7.45pm. It consists of 3 sharing starters, then a main and dessert each. We waited 45 mins then one starter turned up. Another one came along around 15 mins later but by 9pm we were still waiting for the 3rd starter. I pointed out to the waiter that we were still waiting for the 3rd starter. He apologised and said that they were training a new chef. It arrived shortly afterwards but then we waited again for our mains. At 9.25, an hour and a half after we ordered, there was still no sign of our mains, so I called over the waiter and said that unless they were actually being cooked, he should just bring us the bill for what we’ve had. He checked with the kitchen then went straight to the till, produced a bill for our starters and brought it to us. At the point we arrived there were only two other occupied tables and the restaurant was well under 50% capacity. God help them if they’d been full as they would have had a major problem on their hands. We left after an hour and 45 mins still hungry and had to make some food when we arived home. Their excuse that they were training a new chef was poor, as they should not be training a chef in a way that has such a negative effect on the customer experience. There are too many competitors out there, especially in this locality, for them to be giving such unacceptable service, and we will not be returning.

We had a nice Evening at Varkk. We had some nice food bao buns, filled with duck and some with chicken and also pulled pork all very nice. Nice place to go and enjoy an evening with your loved ones. Staff all very nice too x

During our fortnight stay in Los Dolces this August we came across Varkk Bar , and so glad we did. We’ve now been twice with two different sets of friends and everyone has been served with amazing starters and main courses going across the menu. Absolutely delicious food that is so well prepared and presented and leaves you highly satisfied and wanting more. The lovely people serving you , do everything and more to make your experience at Varkk a memorable one.

Came here and ordered starters. They initially came out incorrect. Afterwards the starters came out separately and weren’t brought out in a timely manner. The starters were good and I had no complaints about them other than how they were given to us. We ended up waiting an entire 2 hours for 3 main courses (luckily we noticed the time going by quick enough) and was disappointed by the time we spent waiting. The waitress was very apologetic and kind, that being the reason I have given 2 stars and not 1. The wrong drinks also came out but yet again, the waitress was apologetic and corrected the mistake. The last grievance I have is that the receipt overcharged us for an extra drink. The mistake was corrected and we were refunded for the extra drinks. Would be handy to point out that another gentleman with children in the Varkk was left waiting over an hour for 5 burgers, I left shortly after so I wouldn’t know if he was seen to promptly afterwards or not. Don’t come here with children, you will be playing Russian roulette with the waiting times by all means as others were seen to somewhat promptly and others weren’t. Wouldn’t reccomend unless you are willing to take such a risk.

Great place with friendly staff, good food and cleanliness!!

Die Wartezeit für 5 Burger war 1.5h lang. Im Restaurant war nichts los, 5 Tische waren besetzt. Geschätzt 10% Auslastung. Die Crispychickenburger waren totgebraten, im Gegensatz zum Rindfleisch was kalt und roh war. Das Essen bewegt sich deutlich unterhalb der gängigen US Fastfoodketten. Absolut nicht zu empfehlen.

I didn’t understand why it wasn’t busier. It clean tidy and easy to find. The food was freshly made and hot and I thought well served. It certainly was value for money. The true test is would I visit again YES

Lovely Sunday roast today. Just what was needed on a rainy day. Food was well cooked and plenty of choice. Service was also very good and friendly. Will definitely visit again.

Been to this place a few times and each time loved it. The food is off a high standard , I am very fussy when it comes to food and this place always meets my fussy needs. Well done guys. The service was also very nice which makes such a difference.

We went for early afternoon lunch first time and that was really a perfect option. Menu del dia was really well done, tasty and well served, even no need for salt, pepper or else, just perfect starters, main and juicy desert. And finally house wine so good organ red one. Great restaurant, such a chilled out vibe.Not rushed. Had an Amazing Sunday Lunch, the addition of creamed leeks and Cauliflower cheese made it even more Delicious. Great Value for money. Friendly welcoming staff!
